HTS’s published project documents a building fan-coil retrofit involving 320 fan coil units over four months, following an assessment and board review.
Hydronic fan coil units in a 12-storey condominium built in 1984. Retrofit planning included cabinet and system compatibility.
Equipment varies between buildings. We confirm the model and connections at your property before specifying replacement parts or a retrofit.

Home Trade Standards provides condo HVAC service in Mississauga for owners, landlords, property managers and condominium boards. We work on fan coils, water-source heat pumps, PTAC units, ventilation and the shared mechanical systems that serve the building.
From City Centre and Cooksville to Port Credit, Erin Mills and Meadowvale, the first question is the same: what equipment is installed, and is the problem inside one suite or affecting the building? That determines the right investigation and who needs to be involved.

Repair. Retrofit. Replace.
A building’s age or the name on a cabinet is not enough to choose a replacement.
Assess the symptom, equipment condition, controls and relevant building water or airflow conditions. A loss of cooling does not automatically mean the entire unit has failed.
Review repair scope, parts availability and condition against retrofit or replacement. Like-for-like brands can simplify work when a compatible model exists; connections and controls still need checking.
Record cabinet dimensions, piping, drainage, voltage and access. For multiple suites, a representative assessment can identify variations before a wider program is scheduled.

Useful Answers Before You Book
Understand the next step without guessing at the diagnosis.
Yes. Owners and residents can request in-suite fan coil, heat pump, heating, cooling and ventilation service. Property managers and condominium boards can request building mechanical work, maintenance programs and coordinated retrofit assessments using the dedicated building-service form.
The cause depends on the system. A two-pipe fan coil may not have chilled water during a building changeover. Other possibilities include controls, restricted water flow or an equipment fault. A water-source heat pump also needs its refrigeration circuit and building-loop conditions considered. Record the symptoms and ask management about known operating changes.
Compare the diagnosed fault, coil and drain-pan condition, blower, insulation, valves, controls and available parts. A suitable repair may be practical; extensive deterioration can justify a retrofit assessment. Age alone does not establish the right choice.
Like-for-like replacement can simplify planning when a compatible unit is available. Cabinet dimensions, chassis fit, water connections, voltage, controls and drainage must still be checked. A matching brand name does not guarantee a drop-in replacement.
The equipment model, diagnosis, parts, access, shutdowns and installation work affect the scope and price. A full replacement and a targeted repair are different jobs. Send equipment photos and the symptoms so HTS can explain the assessment and prepare an appropriate quote.
Contact property management promptly if water could affect another suite or a common area, and call HTS for an assessment. Condensate drainage and pressurized water leaks need different investigations. Responsibility and authorization depend on the governing documents and the part of the system involved.
Send the property address, tower entrance, suite number, equipment model, thermostat or fault display photo, symptoms and contact details. Managers should add the equipment inventory, previous reports and any access or shutdown requirements. Submission is a request; HTS confirms the appointment.
Follow the installed manufacturer’s instructions and the building’s maintenance program. Filter checks and scheduled service depend on equipment, operating conditions and use. A planned visit should define cleaning, operating checks, drainage observations and any testing limitations.
