Although Fan Coil Units are independent systems in each apartment, they are still connected to the building boiler & chiller systems. Central HVAC systems in your building heat or cool water & distribute the water through a vertical riser pipe network to individual fan coil units.

Fan Coils units can be designed with 2 pipe or 4 pipe configurations. 2-pipe systems can only provide heating or cooling whereas 4-pipe fan coil units are equipped to provide both heating & cooling at any time of the year as long as central HVAC systems are activated. The majority of buildings in Toronto use 2 pipe fan coil units.

Fan Coil Replacement Toronto – Customer Review

Our former property manager recommended us with 2 HVAC companies but after seeing the high rating of Home Trade Standards on Google reviews and HomeStars, we decided to give HTS a call. Home Trade Standards was wonderful, and he was quick to answer our texts. The technician Mike did an amazing job installing 2 of our fan coil units. They were friendly, polite and knowledgeable. We are very pleased to receive excellent customer service from Home Trade Standards!!

Why Should I Replace My Fan Coil Unit?

Canadians spend 90% of their time indoors, especially during the winter season. Older fan coil units can negatively impact a healthy indoor air environment. Understanding the impacts of bad indoor air will allow condominium owners, managers, tenants & landlords to make the right decisions about older HVAC systems in your condo.

How Does Your Fan Coil Cause Serious Health & Safety Issues?

Older Fan Coils contain fiberglass insulation and when they become wet or moist from condensation, they provide an ideal environment for mould & spores to grow & multiply. Mould growth inside the fan coil cabinet will release airborne particles into the suite and when inhaled, the particles can result in long-term health problems such as asthma, chronic sinusitis, coughing, and severe allergy.

Water Damage & Liability Results In Legal Costs

According to TD Insurance, more than 40% of Condo Insurance Claims are due to Flooding In Condos in recent years. These issues can occur more often in order fan coil systems. Water damage in older condos can cause higher building insurance as well as liability risks for property managers and residents in the building.

Are you currently scheduled for a Fan Coil Replacement?

Here is how you can prepare before & after the work is completed:

    1. Book the service elevator for the day of installation.
    2. Ensure there would be a minimum of 6 ft or 2 Metres clearance around the fan coil area. Our technicians will be using different tools, materials & equipment during the removal & installation process. We advise you to give us as much space as possible for smooth travel, delivery, removal & replacement procedures.
    3. The drywall & floor covering will be covered to protect the area around the fan coil unit. We use plastic & floor cover sheets to ensure there will be no damage during the replacement process.
    4. Fan Coil replacement has a specific procedure to ensure all the parts & materials are installed properly. During each step, there are safety protocols & procedures to ensure proper installation. We advise to refrain from interrupting or distracting technicians until the work is fully completed.
    5. Once the work is completed, we will always provide you with manufacturer brochures, documents, and related literature regarding your newly installed equipment.
    6. Our administration team will register the warranty on your behalf via the fan coil manufacturer’s website. You will receive an email confirmation regarding your warranty confirmation.
    7. Our technicians will walk you through the new thermostat operation. We always test the temperature & airflow to ensure best practices before leaving your condo.
    8. You may be experiencing a plastic smell in the first few hours of running your newly installed system. The smell typically goes away after a short period once the air is fully recirculated in your suite.
    9. Every newly installed fan coil comes with one brand-new pleated filter. If you need extra filters, we can create a new purchase order for you and deliver it at your earliest convenience.
    10. Ensure there is a gap between the thermostat and the TV or lamps. Close proximity to a hot object can cause problems with the accuracy of the displayed temperature on the thermostat
    11. Do Not Block the access panel door with your furniture. Low return airflow can cause fan coil ventilation & air circulation problems.
No More Unwanted Repair Costs. Newly Installed Fan Coil Units Come With At Least 2 Years of Complete Part & Labour For All Stationery & Moving Components. If You Require Any Fan Coil Repair During The Warranty Period, please get in touch with 416-736-7001 To Book a Service Appointment.

Our Mission is To Ensure Another 20 Years Of Excellent Operation With Your Newly Installed Fan Coil System.

    Annual Fan Coil Maintenance

Just like any mechanical & electrical systems, fan coils also require attention on a seasonal basis. Most Property managers in Toronto & GTA arrange semi-annual or annual maintenance to clean your fan coil units. Your new fan coil retrofit system should be cleaned by the building’s designated contractor at least once or twice a year before summer and winter.

Our recommendation is to be proactive and replace the filter at the start of each season to ensure the best air quality & performance. If your fan coil is not maintained by the building management company then the fan coil manufacturer can refuse to accept warranty calls due to a lack of basic maintenance. Ask us about our annual maintenance programs for your building.

    Payments & Deposits

Home Trade Standards ask for a 50% deposit before & 50% once the work is completed. We accept cheques, debit, credit cards, e-transfers & money orders as forms of payment. Please note that there would be a 3% surcharge on all credit card payments. All payments & transactions can be made via our online payment processing applications. Your designated account manager will send an email receipt once the payment is received at our office within 24 hours of receiving the payment.
